Tigers 15U Ambush take Silver at 16U Bugarski Cup

Tigers Ambush brought their A-Game to the 16U Bugarski cup playing some of their best team volleyball of the season. The competition in all the matches was tight making for some intense moments for the team (and the parents). The team came out of pool play with a loss to Cambridge and a win against Guelph. With a loss in the morning and a quick break for lunch, the girls were not ready to give up and took a definitive win against Milton to earn their spot in the semi finals where they once again faced Guelph. The confidence from the pool play win against Guelph helped drive the team in the final points of the first set to come back and win 26-24, but Guelph was not ready to say goodbye and took the second set. Ambush rallied to quickly go up 8-2 against Guelph in the last set and then go on to win 15-6 to secure their place in the gold medal match.

The Gold medal match offered redemption for their earlier loss against Cambridge who they had faced earlier in the day, but in the end Cambridge was able to fight off the spirited Ambush team. The team disappointed to not have gold still enjoyed their highest tournament finish of the season with the silver medal. Throughout the day, the team had clearly taken up the “Tigers fight” mantra and demonstrated they are a team that won’t quit and will always dig deep to find the fight to play tough matches. Well fought Tigers Ambush and great tournament!

14U Take Silver at Bugarski Cup

To keep the parents on their toes and to get the most contacts the 14U Apex team decided to take most games to 3 sets at the Bugarski Cup. The Apex team started pool play off well winning over the Halton Hurricanes and Milton Platinum Edge; this placed Apex in first place in their pool. For a quarter final they faced Pakmen Gold and beat them in two sets. Semi finals placed them against Defensa Purple, that they have played a few times already this season. 3 sets later they found their way to the Gold medal match against the other Halton Hurricanes team. A little tired out they lost the first set 11-25 but battled back to win the second set 25-21. The third set was lost 10-15, but the coaching staff are proud of the girls successes. This brings the medals the 14U Apex team have won this season to 4 (1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze). Congratulations and good luck at your last regular season 15U tournament in two weeks.
