COVID-19 Pandemic

With the global pandemic impacting all parts of our life, we are unfortunately unable to complete the volleyball season.

As you probably already heard, the Ontario Volleyball Association has cancelled the end of year OVA Championships. This cancellation follows what other sports leagues are doing: Olympics postponed to 2021, OHL/QMJHL/WHL playoffs cancelled / Memorial Cup cancelled / NHL season halted / NBA season halted / MLS season halted / PGA Tour postponed / MLB postponed etc.

Unfortunately, we are in the midst of a global health crisis which is impacting the daily lives of everyone - no matter their citizenship, their age, their gender, or financial status. Since health and safety are top priorities for all of us, we need to be wise with how we go about our daily routines. This includes avoiding gathering with others - social distancing and self isolation. That means we are unable to get together, at this time and in the near future, to host team practices.

We will eventually get through this crisis and we will be able to come together again and celebrate the game of volleyball. However, we need to patiently wait for this issue to become under control so we can return to the game of volleyball.

16u Provincial Cup

This past weekend, our Tigers Ambush, Tigers Fury, and Tigers Apex joined Stratford Stingers, Cambridge Scorpions, Norfolk Chaos, MVC, and Guelph Jr Gryphons to play for the Provincial Cup glory in the small town of Simcoe Ontario.

The Tigers Ambush team had a mixed result in the round robin matches and ended up second in their pool. They lost their crossover match and unfortunately lost their final match ending up 7th overall.

The Tigers Fury team lost all of their morning matches ending up at the bottom of their pool. They faced a tough Stratford team with the crossover match but lost a very close one in three sets (25-27 / 25-23 / 13-15). They then faced the Guelph Jr Gryphons and were able to pull through with another close one (30-28 / 21-25 / 15-13) to move on to one final match of the day. Facing the Norfolk Chaos Attack for the second time, the Tigers Fury were not phased with another three set match and capped off their day with a win in three sets (25-23 / 17-25 / 15-12). This win propelled them to 5th place!

The Tigers Apex team performed very well during the round robin matches. They won their crossover match to give them an opportunity to play for a medal. They lost their semi-final game but turned it around in the Bronze medal match – winning against Stratford Stingers – Ken. Congratulations Tigers Apex.
