14U Apex take Silver

The 14U Apex team took Silver in the McGregor Cup at the Select division. Pool play started off a little slow coming 3rd place. However, all 3 teams in Pool A ended up in the medal matches so it was a difficult pool to start in. After pool play the Tigers crossed over against their good friends the Scorpions. The Tigers won against the Scorpions in two sets (25-22, 25-18) and moved on to play Brant Youth for the second time in the day. After a loss in the first set 17-25 the Tigers dug deep and won the next two sets 25-19, 15-9 to move onto the Gold medal match against the Bandits. The Tigers hoped to be victorious against the Bandits since they took them to 3 sets in pool play. They didn’t give up but ended up losing in two sets 19-25, 10-25 but claiming the Silver medal.

Congratulations Apex and good luck next weekend in the 15U tournament.

15U Ambush Take Bronze in 16U Challenge Cup

The 15U Ambush team took the Bronze 16U  Challenge Cup in Simcoe through grit and determination. Pool play forced the team to dig deep into 3 games against both opponents finishing second in the pool with 1 win and 1 loss. Heading into the playoff round, the girls were more determined than ever to prove their capabilities. After winning the first game against London Sharks Hammerheads, the team had a slight lapse and gave up the second game only to come back and dominate the tie breaker with strong hitting and smart ball placement. In semi-final action, the team fought hard and lost to the Ancaster Lions who would go on to win Gold. However, not to be done, the girls focused on the positive and went into the bronze medal game looking for redemption against St. Thomas Express Bullets. A 10 point serving streak helped the team to an easy first win in game 1 (25-15), but then the Bullets showed their determination to take game 2 (16-25) bringing the intense showdown into game 3. Ambush rallied and pushed to the end against the determined Bullets team to take the game(15-10) and the Bronze.

Congratulations 15U Ambush!

15U Girls Black Give Back to the Community

While most we’re bustling getting ready for Christmas or enjoying some Christmas socializing, the 15U Tigers spent their Friday evening helping out the StuffIn Stocking project. The amazing crew that runs this charity helps bring joy to many people from babies to seniors. They provided over 2100 stockings last year and expect to do over 2500 this year! Many great companies support the charity to make sure it can all happens but the amount of work required to organize, stuff and deliver all those stockings couldn’t happen without lots of help. Our girls were happy to jump in and stuff lots of good stuff into the stockings to help out just a little bit.

Merry Christmas from the 15U Girls Black team!
