Tigers 13U Girls Black Compete in Premier Division!

Tigers 13U Girls Black Team Tie for 7th at Premier!

The 13U Girls Black team had its first away tournament for the Bugarski cup in Oshawa this past weekend. Not knowing what to expect from the Premier teams, hanging out together at the hotel was a great way for the team to bond before hitting the courts.

The goal was set to win one game. Nerves were noticeably high in the first game against Scarborough Titans Menace. Our team got a feel for what they were looking at that day with a loss (12-25; 13-25). This helped as they played Durham Attack Black Panthers. They upped their game play and had a much closer match at (19-25; 17-25).

After a break and lunch, they had some confidence back. They won their first set (25-22) and then lost to Leaside Lightning in a tie breaker (15-25; 8-15). Feeling they should have played better and won the last match, they pulled ahead and won against EVP Eagles Black (25-18; 22-25; 15-9)! Going back up against Durham Attack Black Panthers to fight for 5th or 7th place, our team tied for 7th place at the Premier tournament! Proud of the girls and their fight to reach their goal!

Their hard work paid off as the results from the weekend place our Tigers 13U Girls Black team in the top 10 teams in Ontario! Can’t wait for Championships!

Tigers 14U Black win Silver at Bugarski Cup!

On Saturday, February 17, Tigers 14U Black took Oakville by storm in the Bugarski Cup – Trillium C event.

The round robin matches in the morning allowed the team to gain some confidence with their successes. The Tigers easily defeated Predators Ripple 25-12 and 25-11, and the Lakeside Shujaa’s 25-14 and 25-18.

After a long break, the Tigers returned to meet Niagara Rapids Summit and made it an interesting three-set match. The long break may have contributed to the loss of the first set, but they quickly found their momentum and made a comeback to take the match (22-25, 25-8, 15-12).

The semi-final round found the Tigers facing the Pakmen, and the team easily moved forward to the finals with scores of 25-17 and 25-11.

In the gold medal match the Tigers met Defensa White from Burlington, and despite a competitive start, the Tigers ultimately met their match! A well-played final match resulted in scores of 22-25, 25-16 and 15-4. Tigers 14U Black proudly accepted the silver medal!

Congratulations Tigers 14U Black on a very successful final OVA tournament!
